PATY nomination records broken

Nominations for the 2017 Pharmacy Guild of Australia/ Maxigesic Pharmacy Assistant of the Year Award have now closed.

This year, more nominations were received than ever before – with 575 third-party nominations, 256 responses to nominations and 58 self-nominations, totalling 633 nominations – breaking last year’s record of 568 nominations!

The Pharmacy Guild of Australia National President, George Tambassis, said it was terrific to see the amount of nominations this year.

“It’s great to see so many owners, pharmacists, managers, colleagues and customers recognise the work of dedicated pharmacy assistants throughout Australia, and wonderful to see so many nominating themselves”, Mr Tambassis said.

General Manager (Aust) of Award sponsor AFT Pharmaceuticals Pty Ltd, Calvin MacKenzie said that the organisation is pleased to partner with The Guild to recognise and reward pharmacy assistants.

“Pharmacy assistants provide a vital link in our healthcare system, providing advice, care and support when we are at our most vulnerable.

“It’s important to acknowledge the vital role pharmacy assistants play within community pharmacies. This Award presents an opportunity to both celebrate and further develop their careers,” Mr MacKenzie said.

Successful nominees will be asked to attend a state-based workshop, where they can showcase their passion, knowledge and leadership skills while learning from their peers and the profession.

From there, a State Winner will be chosen to represent their State or Territory at the National Finals held at the Pharmacy Assistant National Conference on the Gold Coast in October.

The national winner will receive a $5,000 cash prize and a Guild Training course, among other great prizes. State winners will also be eligible for prizes. For more information, visit: www.pharmacyassistants.com/paty
