Osteoporosis in community pharmacy: The role of the pharmacy assistant

Two out of every three Australians aged 50 years or older have osteoporosis or low bone density.¹

People with osteoporosis usually have no signs or symptoms of the disease until a fracture occurs.

Experiencing a bone fracture can have a serious effect on a person’s health and wellbeing, resulting in chronic pain, loss of independence and an increased risk of premature death.

Guild Learning and Development is partnering with Amgen Australia to deliver an online QCPP Refresher Training course titled Osteoporosis in community pharmacy: The role of the pharmacy assistant.

This course reviews the risk factors for osteoporosis and examines the role of calcium and vitamin D supplementation in maintaining bone health.

This course is intended to provide pharmacy assistants with guidance on how to best assist customers to manage their osteoporosis and recognise when it is appropriate to refer customers to the pharmacist.

This activity has been approved for 60 minutes of QCPP Refresher Training and pharmacy assistants who complete this course will be issued with a certificate of completion that can be used to demonstrate their QCPP Refresher Training requirements.

To enrol in this course please visit guild.org.au/training.

Please contact Guild Learning and Development on 03 9810 9930 or email [email protected] for more information.
Guild Learning and Development thanks Amgen Australia for its financial support and assistance in the development of this course.
